ETH Rallies in September, 'Soft' Timeline for Upcoming Merge
Ethereum's long-awaited upgrade, Merge, may take place on September 19, after Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko has said that the price of ETH has risen 8% since the announcement. 'It's all coming together' Goerly will be the last testnet to undergo a proof-of-stake transition around August 11th, according to a recent tweet by the Ethereum community.
If all goes according to plan, the Ethereum mainnet merge could happen in the week starting September 19th. If all goes well, the Ethereum blockchain may eventually move from its current energy-intensive proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain to a more powerful one. Eco-friendly Proof-of-Stake (PoS), providing users with faster and cheaper transactions. Success for all testnets so far, all testnets that have moved to PoS have given successful results.
Last week, the Ethereum Foundation moved the Cepolia testnet to PoS. On June 10, the Ropsten testnet went live on Ethereum's new POS series, which Biko referred to as a "dress rehearsal for node operators." Once the final testnet goes live on the POS chain, it will be Ethereum's turn after seven years.
