What is Cardano ADA and which type of token is this
Cardano is aproof-of-stake blockchain platform with smart contract functionality. Inparticular, Cardano is known to focus on academic research, hightransaction-per-second (TPS) throughput, and an energy-efficient consensusmechanism called Ouroboros. ADA, the native coin of the Cardano network, isused to facilitate transactions and execute smart contracts.
Cardanoenvisions itself as a third generation blockchain platform to cast itself asthe next level player. Cardano relies on Proof of Stake (PoS), which means thatthe complex PoW calculations and high power usage required for mining coinssuch as bitcoin is not necessary. This potentially makes Cardano'snetwork more efficient and sustainable than some other crypto networks.
Cardano'scryptocurrency is called ADA after the 19th century mathematician Ada Lovelace.Cardano's main applications are in identity management and traceability. Thefirst application can be used to streamline the collection of data frommultiple sources. The latter can be used to audit a product's manufacturingpath, and potentially to prevent fraud and counterfeit goods.
Cardanois being built in five phases towards achieving its goal of developing thenetwork into a decentralized application (DApp) platform with a multi-assetledger and verifiable smart contracts. Each stage, or era, in the Cardano roadmapis tied to its research-based framework and peer-reviewed insights that havehelped establish its scholarly reputation.
